Homemade Montreal Steak Seasoning Blend

I recently started making my own seasoning blends when I got tired of paying the high prices for them in the grocery store. They’re just too darn expensive, and they typically have way too much sodium in them. I figured since I already have most of the seasonings that go into the blends, I could buy the ones I don’t have and just started making them myself.

Because, seriously, how difficult is it to measure and combine? 

This is a dupe recipe for McCormick’s Montreal Steak Seasoning I found on food.com, and I just tweaked it a little to meet my needs. Feel free to follow their recipe or do as I did and switch it up to suit your taste.

Homemade Montreal Steak Seasoning Blend

  1. 1 tbsp salt
  2. 1 tbsp black pepper
  3. 1 tbsp onion, dehydrated
  4. 1 tbsp garlic, granulated or dehydrated
  5. 1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper
  6. 1/2 tbsp dried thyme
  7. 1/2 tbsp dried rosemary
  8. 1/2 tbsp dried coriander
  1. Combine spices well and store in a shaker.
  1. The original recipe calls for 4 Tbsp of salt, but I scaled it back to 1 Tbsp. Feel free to add as much or as little as you like.

    Is it dried coriander leaves aka cilantro leaves or is it ground coriander seeds in this recipe?

      Dried coriander seeds.
