Foodie Friday – Fried Green Tomatoes

Foodie Friday – Fried Green Tomatoes

I have been meaning to make these all summer, and just never got around to it. While grocery shopping this week I, again, saw the big green tomatoes and decided to stop procrastinating and just do it.

And I’m so glad I did!

We love fried green tomatoes, and I have a great recipe for them using a cornmeal batter, but I thought I’d try something different this time. I found a recipe calling for Panko and decided to change it up a little and use Italian seasoned Panko instead. I have to say, it was really good!

But be prepared, it’s definitely not your typical Southern Fried Green Tomatoes.

Ten years in the south and I grew to love fried green tomatoes…and it’s just about time for some now; snow in Denver and all the tomatoes have been stripped from the plant. Frying them will proceed!

I’ve actually never had green tomatoes nor have I fried them. I usually have leftover tomatoes from when I make BLT’s. This would be a great way of using them up!
