One of the things I love most about Autumn is the change in cooking. Typically, in the Spring and Summer, I cook lighter by grilling and using the fresh fruits and vegetables to make a beautiful salads. But in the Autumn and Winter, I break out the crock pot and make more hearty meals like stews and roasts.
Roasts are so easy in the crockpot, and the leftovers are tender and ready for whatever creation [...]
There are only a couple restaurants that, any time we visit them, you can be pretty darn certain we’re going to order the Spinach Artichoke Dip. For me, it’s a dip that can be done very well or very badly, with very little inbetween.
One of the restaurants that does it really well is California Pizza Kitchen. There’s just something about that bubbly hot dip that is just irresistible.
This past weekend David and I went to Branson, Mo and was able to (partially) check off another item on our bucket list; traveling Historic Route 66.
Traveling Route 66 from Chicago to LA is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, and are finally planning, but just getting to drive it from Springfield, Mo to St. Louis, MO was a thrill.
My only “complaint” was that Missouri [...]
I have been meaning to make these all summer, and just never got around to it. While grocery shopping this week I, again, saw the big green tomatoes and decided to stop procrastinating and just do it.
And I’m so glad I did!
We love fried green tomatoes, and I have a great recipe for them using a cornmeal batter, but I thought I’d try something different this time. I found a recipe calling [...]

Every once in a while, I get carried away with a meal. This is an example of that.
Let me begin by saying that David cooks breakfast every weekend. Because I’m not one of those people, like my husband, who wake up starving, I don’t like to eat the minute I wake up. But, because he does, he makes breakfast on the weekends.
Saturday morning rolled around, and David wanted something different [...]
Last weekend we went to Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana to celebrate the birthdays of our friends children. And, although I’m not a huge fan of roller coasters, I love amusement parks.
I love all of the other rides and games and, most of all, I love watching my husband ride all of the biggest roller coasters with the enthusiasm and delight of a child.
Below are pictures of him riding [...]
