Facing My Fathers Death

Facing My Fathers Death
I got a call last Thursday from my sister telling me our father is now on Hospice. My father is a lifelong alcoholic in the last stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Between the damage done to his organs spending years smoking and drinking, and the ravaging effects of Alzheimer’s, I don’t know how much longer my dad will be on this earth. Knowing this leaves me deeply saddened and emotionally [...]

Lemon Basil Mayo

Lemon Basil Mayo
I love to cook, and I especially love simple recipes. Isn’t life too busy to wrestle with complicated dishes? Usually, if a recipe has more than a few simple ingredients, I move on to something else (unless it happens to be Thanksgiving Day). Although I don’t slather on the mayonnaise regularly, if I am cooking for a neighborhood party or a special family bar-b-que, this is my go-to recipe [...]

Wordless Wednesday-Cagles Mill Lake

Wordless Wednesday-Cagles Mill Lake
As you all know, David and I love fishing. One of our favorite local fishing holes is a place called Cagles Mill Lake, or Cataract Lake, depending on who you speak to. Instead of using sour cream we use plain Greek yogurt and Fage is my favorite brand. I use it in any recipe that calls for sour cream.  [...]

Wordless Wednesday

Wordless Wednesday
David and I love fishing. We’re not big fish eaters so we mostly catch and release. These pictures were taken in the Gulf of Mexico just off of Captiva Island in Florida. We rented a boat for the day and headed out to do some fishing. We didn’t catch anything too impressive, but we had a lot of fun! Everything we caught that day was returned to the ocean. Welcome to my Wordless [...]

Stress-Free Toilet Training For Cats Weeks 14-19

Stress-Free Toilet Training For Cats Weeks 14-19
Litter training cats is a no-brainer. Cats are hard wired to dig and bury their waste, so you’re not required to do much beyond giving them a box full of litter. Toilet training your cat isn’t quite as easy. Especially when you’re toilet training multiple cats at a time. We finished Weeks 11-13 strong. After I reverted back to their original feeding schedule and swapped the flared [...]
